Training Opportunities courses are fully funded and designed for people who have no or low qualifications and limited skills. The intent is to gain more independence by assisting students to gain further training and or employment and recognised qualifications or credits towards them.

Cost: Courses are free to eligible students. Students will continue to receive any benefits they are on, and they may also be eligible for a travel allowance. Students need to cover the cost of their own travel for up to the first two weeks, unless they are travelling by bus, when the cost of the ticket is covered by ATET.

ATET’s Expectations: Students are expected to participate fully in all course activities and treat each day as they would if they were in the workforce. We expect full attendance, punctuality and no use of drugs and/or alcohol, These standards are required for learners to be able to gain positive outcomes from the period of fully funded training. Valid absences for sickness are acceptable but students must ring the office by 9.00 am.

Students Rights: Students can expect to be treated with respect and work in a safe learning environment where individual differences are valued and acknowledged. One to one learning support is provided by professional tutors who know their industries well. Tutors will also provide assistance with career planning, CVs, reading, writing and maths to ensure success.

Labour Market Outcomes: Eight weeks after students are withdrawn from training we are required to make contact to confirm whether they are enrolled with another training provider or in employment. This information is required by the Tertiary Education Commission.

Many hours of time and effort are invested into each student, while in training and helping to gain suitable outcomes.

Documentation: Prior to any enrolments being accepted you must supply the following documentation.
Evidence of your date of birth - either a passport or birth certificate.
School leaving certificate if 18 or 19.
If you are claiming travel allowance, a deposit slip for your bank
account. This must be stamped by the bank

Work Experience: Work experience allows the student to put into practice the skills they have learnt, in a work environment. This is considered a vital tool in the success of students securing employment and we expect all students to attend some form of work experience during their course.

While students are assisted to find work experience placements we expect students to call in to the workplace to introduce themselves to the manager and confirm hours of work. It is expected that students will work the hours expected by the Manager.
