The Abel Tasman Educational Trust (ATET) is a private training provider established in 1988. The Trust was founded by a group of local people with an original focus to provide local training opportunities to those who with low educational achievement and those at risk of becoming long term beneficiaries.
Education and Training remains at the core of our services, however, ATET has evolved to include services such as; Youth Mentoring, Youth Transition Services. Training for Work, Foundation Focused Training Opportunities and Alternative Education. We are one of only two local providers who deliver MSD's NEET Youth Service. We have provided a wide range of services in the area of youth development, including work based training and more recently the restoration and re-vegetation of a significant local conservation and cultural site alongside D.O.C.
ATET also initiated and provided seed funding for the local Teen Parent Education unit which now receives on-going funding from the Ministry of Education and is based at Auckland Point School under the management of Nelson College for Girls.
ATET is an NZQA accredited Training Provider and holds the highest possible rating for its educational capability and capacity for self-assessment. We were audited in 2011 and are next due to be audited in 2014/2015.
We believe we offer a unique, non-judgemental environment that respects all students irrespective of background, ethnicity, ability and barriers to employment and learning.
